Submission Preparation ChecklistAs part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
- The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
- The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
- Where available, DOI or URLs for the references have been provided.
- The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
- The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
PRESUBMISSION CHECKLIST FOR MANUSCRIPTS
This checklist is designed to provide you with a simple way to ensure that your manuscript is ready for submission to Yearbook Telecommunications. Submissions that do not comply with this checklist may be returned to authors for amendment or returned without review depending on the degree of non-compliance.
1. The submission has not been previously published, including self-published or published in a language different from English, is original and has been written by the stated authors.
2. The article is not currently being considered for publication by any other journal and will not be submitted for such review while under review by Yearbook Telecommunications.
3. The manuscript is prepared and will be presented using the following set of files (in the Ms Word format), according to the "Manuscript Guidelines for Authors" of Yearbook Telecommunications:
· file „Manuscript.doc(x)“ - a manuscript submitted for publication;
· file „BlindedManuscript.doc(x)“ - a manuscript submitted for review, with no authors data;
· file“TitlePage.doc(x)” - a cover page that includes complete information about each co-author;
· file“Protocol.doc(x)” - scanned protocol, agreement between co-authors.
4. All authors have read and accepted all the terms of Yearbook Telecommunication, as described in the Editorial Policy and Review Policy. All authors have disclosed any possible conflicts of interest.
5. The text of manuscript has been checked by a native speaker or a professional language editing service. Spell and grammar checks have been performed.
6. If the manuscript contains material taken from other sources it must be cited appropriately and permission given by the copyright owner if it is copyrighted.
7. All Authors have read the manuscript and agree to publish it.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS
- GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
For authors it is advisable to publish in one volume of up to three publications, alone or in co-authorship.
The manuscripts are submitted by e-mail to the editor of the Editorial board of Yearbook Telecommunications (NBU, corpus 2, office 609, phone: 359 2 8110609, email: firstname.lastname@example.org). The manuscripts are in the .DOC(x) format, formatted according to the present Guidelines for sending manuscripts and using the template provided.
1.1. Schedule of publication and deadlines:
- For handing over the manuscripts to the Editorial Board: currently, by 31 July of the current calendar year at the latest.
- Review period - up to 2 weeks.
- After receiving the remarks and the editor's notes and their removal, the author sends the corrected manuscript to the editorial board within 2 weeks by e-mail: email@example.com.
Yearbook Telecommunications is published annually in the period 01.09 - 30.09 of the current calendar year.
The published manuscript includes a full bibliographic description of the source - title of the publication, e-mail address, ISSN, year, volume, start and end pages. This allows the author to use the article in pdf format as a complete reprint.
1.3. Movement of manuscripts
For each published manuscript, the movement of the manuscript is recorded - date of receipt, date of acceptance for publication.
1.4. Conditions for accepting manuscripts
(a) Manuscripts that are not designed according to these requirements or do not have the necessary qualities of reasonably well-documented research will not be published for which the authors will be notified.
- b) No work is accepted that copies lightly published articles of research, works with insufficiently substantiated claims, and works that are unreadable.
- c) The use of the subject-critical analysis-problem-goal-tasks-decision-conclusions-approach is recommended in the design of the manuscripts (the absence of such a scheme can significantly influence the reviewers' assessment).
It is recommended that the author, based on a critical review of the literature on the topic chosen, identify and point out the existing problems, requiring further research on the subject. Based on the critical analysis of the literature on the chosen topic, on the background of the existing one can be highlighted the new one, which is related to the author's name. Cursory scan of the Internet is not recommended.
1.5. Author's statement
By sending a manuscript, the authors declare that:
- the manuscript has not been published or made available for publication in other journals or forums;
- are familiar with the publication requirements and the manuscript is prepared according to the Yearbook Telecommunications Submission Guidelines;
- agree with the Copyright Terms stated in the Editorial Policy of Yearbook Telecommunications.
1.6. Reviewing manuscripts received
In order to evaluate the content of the manuscripts received, a Board of Reviewers has been set up at Yearbook Telecommunications. Board of Reviewers is periodically updated through a Call for Reviewers distributed among the experts deemed appropriate (at least with a PhD). Candidates for Reviewers in their Application Forms outline the limits of their scientific competence within selected scientific areas.
Two anonymous and independent reviewers do the evaluation of the content of the manuscripts through the "Blind Peer Review".
The manuscripts are submitted for review without information about the author(s) according to paragraph 2.5.
Each reviewer chooses one of the possible recommendations:
- publish without change;
- to be published after revision - the reviewer presents specific and detailed remarks to which the author has to respond and revise the manuscript (within the prescribed time frame) in accordance with the recommendations made;
- Not to be published - if the Yearbook Telecommunications is not suitable for such a publication or if the manuscript does not contain well-grounded results.
2.1. Rules for manuscript preparation
It is recommended that a manuscript template be used ("ManuscriptTemplate"). The structure of manuscripts should be as follows:
- title of the article and author's names (co-authors);
- main text with built-in graphic materials (figures, charts, pictures, etc.), tables and formulas (if any); references (citations);
- conclusion on the results obtained and relevant contributions;
- a list of literary sources (References);
- thanks (credits) - if any;
- funding information (if any);
- apps (if any);
- contact information for each co-author.
2.2. Structure of the manuscript
Title. The title should summarize the paper’s main idea and identify the variables under discussion and the relationship between them. Avoid titles longer than 15 words.
Abstract. Concise and factual abstracts of 100 to 180 words are required for all manuscripts submitted. The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results and major conclusions. References, literature citations and abbreviations should be avoided.
Keywords. Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 8 keywords, avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of'). Keyword terms may differ from the actual text used in the title and abstract, but should accurately reflect what the article is about.
Section headings. Section headings should be concise.
Abbreviations. Abbreviations should be kept to a minimum and defined upon first use in the text. Non-standard abbreviations should not be used unless they appear at least three times in the text.
Footnotes. Footnotes in the manuscript should be used sparingly.
Author note template. An author note should appear as follows in a short narrative:
First sentence/paragraph: Degree(s), complete departmental and institutional affiliation, changes in affiliation (if any).
Second sentence/paragraph: Acknowledgments, funding sources, special circumstances.
Third sentence/paragraph: Research interests.
Fourth sentence/paragraph: Contact information (e-mail).
2.3. Title page
The Title page (saved as a separate file “TitlePage”) should include the following:
- full article title;
- acknowledgments and credits;
- grant number(s) and/or funding information;
- each author’s complete name and institutional affiliation(s);
- a short biography (fewer than 100-150 words) for each author;
- corresponding author (name, address, phone/fax, e-mail).
Provide the author’s ORCiD ID for the corresponding author (mandatory) and for each author, if available. If you do not have one, you can register for free at https://orcid.org.
According to volume guidelines, the authors include:
- Number of words in the main text part of the manuscript =
- Number of words in the rest of the text of the manuscript (review, critical analysis or comment) =
2.4. Protocol-agreement between co-authors
All persons who have a reasonable claim to authorship must be named in the manuscript as co-authors; the corresponding author must be authorized by all co-authors to act as an agent on their behalf in all matters pertaining to publication of the manuscript, and the order of names should be agreed by all authors. Also co-ordinated by all co-authors, it is necessary to indicate the percentage participation of each of them in the manuscript preparation.
The contents of the protocol-agreement between the co-authors may be as follows:
- Title of the manuscript;
- Authorized co-author and e-mail address;
- Sequence of names in the manuscript and percentage of co-authorship (to be given in relation to the different parts / manuscript approaches such as: lead / supportive or equal participation);
- Signatures of all co-authors and date.
The scanned protocol is sent as a separate file “Protocol”.
2.5. Blinded manuscript preparation guidelines
Due to the double anonymous review process, the co-authors must present two versions of the manuscript:
- a manuscript submitted for publication (file „Manuscript“),
- a manuscript submitted for review (file „BlindedManuscript“).
As part of the blind peer review process, authors will need to upload a blinded manuscript without a title page (no author details), as well as a separate title page (containing author details). Blinded manuscripts should be compiled in the following order: full article title; abstract; keywords; main text with tables and embedded figures; references; appendices (as appropriate).
Take the following steps to ensure the blinded manuscript (saved as a separate file “BlindedManuscript.doc(x)”) is correctly prepared for double-blind peer review:
Remove names and affiliations under the title within the manuscript
Remove names or other identifying information from the abstract
Use the third person to refer to work the authors have previously undertaken, e.g. replace any phrases like “as we have shown before” with “… has been shown before [Anonymous, 2007]”.
Make sure figures do not contain any affiliation related identifier
Cite papers published by the author in the text as follows: ‘[Anonymous, 2007]’.
For blinding in the reference list: ‘[Anonymous 2007] Details omitted for double-blind reviewing.’
Remove references to funding sources
Do not include acknowledgments
Name your files with care and ensure document properties are also anonymized.
2.6. Language and style
The articles in Yearbook Telecommunications is published in Bulgarian, Russian or English (either American or British standard, but not the mixture of both) languages.
For Manuscripts in Bulgarian and Russian only, the name, authors, abstract, keywords and contact details must also be in English (located according to the formatting instructions that the ManuscriptTemplate is compliant with). For manuscripts in English, the above attributes are not required in a language other than English.
Translations should be supplied for quotations in languages other than English. Source of English translations of quoted material must be specified. If translator is the article’s author, state in a footnote early on, for example, “Unless otherwise noted, all translations to English are my own.”
Cyrillic sources (which do not have English translation in the original edition) should also be presented transliterated in Latin (immediately after the original source in the list without their own number).
Transliteration from Cyrillic to Latin is done according to the Transliteration Law (March 2009) at https://slovored.com/transliteration/ only for transliteration in Bulgarian and for transliteration from different texts in Cyrillic (Russian, etc.), https://www.translitteration.com/transliteration/en (ISO-9 standard) can be used.
A native speaker or a professional language editing service before submission should check manuscripts written by authors whose mother language is not English. This should be clearly stated in the submission letter (“TitlePage”).
Authors should run a final spell-check and review the manuscript carefully for grammatical errors before submitting. Manuscripts submitted in poor English will be returned without review. The same applies to manuscripts in Bulgarian or Russian.
2.7. Length of paper
Articles should be as concise as possible. Please use these guidelines for maximum length of the article (exclusive of tables, figures, formulas, references, title, authors, author's information, keywords and abstract): original contribution, 4,000 words; review or commentary, 1,000; letter to the editor, 500-600 words. Manuscripts that greatly exceed this will be critically reviewed with respect to length. Authors should include a word count with their manuscript (file “TitlePage”).
Pages not numbered. The formatting parameters are:
- Page size: А4 (210/297 mm), Portrait, one column.
- Font Size: 12 pt Times New Roman, Normal, Justified, Style Body A.
- Margins are as follows: Top 25mm, Bottom 20 mm, Inside 25 mm, Outside 20 mm; when the Mirror margin is highlighted, and in the Layout section, Different odd and even is highlighted.
- Spacing: Single; Before = 0; After = 0.
- Alignment: Justified.
- First line indent just the text: 12.5 mm (do not use tab stop). The names of the sections are without indentation.
- Bullets: bullet position 12.5 mm, text indent 0 mm, tab stop at 17 mm.
The ManuscriptTemplate is formatted with these parameters.
It is recommended to use standard BDS ISO 215:2002 "Editing articles from periodical and other continuing editions" in formatting.
2.9. Formatting of graphic materials (figures, charts, graphs, etc.), tables and formulas:
Please provide the highest quality figure format possible. Please be sure that all imported scanned material is scanned at the appropriate resolution: 1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for grayscale and 300 dpi for color.
Files should be saved as one of the following formats: TIFF (tagged image file format), PostScript or EPS (encapsulated PostScript), and should contain all the necessary font information and the source file of the application (e.g. CorelDraw/Mac, CorelDraw/PC).
Figures should be embedded in the manuscript file. Figures and diagrams can also be represented in color. Marking of graphics to allow recognition in colorless printing.
Graphic materials must be numbered in the order in which they appear in the manuscript (e.g. Figure 1, Figure 2, ...). In figures of several parts, each part must be marked (for example, Fig 1 (a), Fig 1 (b), ...).

Formulas - aligned to the left and numbered on the left side of the formulas without indentation (with a space after number), with Arabic numerals in brackets and with the text size corresponding to the font of the main text.
- The captions are not allowed to be separate from the relevant figures or tables on different pages, and only the title of the tab is at the bottom of the page;
- The inscriptions under the figures and above the tables are separate sentences and end with a point;
- Graphic materials and tables must be quoted before their first appearance in the text;
- Pages must be filled and without empty spaces.

2.10. Citation and bibliographic description of literary sources in the Literature / Sources List
a) The list of the main literature is recommended to contain literary sources (books and magazines) included in the reference editions.
b) The citation and bibliographic description is in accordance with the standard BDS ISO 690_2011 with digital citation system (standard available in computer center 1 (BIS Information Center at NBU) in NBU Building 2). Reference literal sources should be quoted in Arabic numerals in square brackets (for example, [5 p. 10]) in the order in which they are entered in the main literature list with their full bibliographic data.
Sources of borrowed (non-proprietary) materials (figures, charts, graphics, images, tables, etc.) to be listed as part of the list of literary sources.
The literary sources of the Cyrillic alphabet (which do not have English translation) should also be transliterated in Latin. Transliteration from Bulgarian to Latin letters is done in 2.6. Language and style.
c) The use of another system (or blending with another system) to present literary sources as well as incomplete bibliographic data of the cited sources is not allowed.
d) Sources other than the main literature, internet sources and author's explanations, which are not part of the main text and are not related to it, may be included as footnote.
2.11. Reproduction of copyright material
If you wish to include any material in your manuscript in which you do not hold copyright, you must obtain written permission from the copyright owner, prior to submission. Such material may be in the form of text, data, table, illustration, photograph, line drawing, audio clip, video clip, film still, and screenshot, and any supplemental material you propose to include. This applies to direct (verbatim or facsimile) reproduction as well as “derivative reproduction” (where you have created a new figure or table which derives substantially from a copyrighted source).
You must ensure appropriate acknowledgement is given to the permission granted to you for reuse by the copyright holder in each figure or table caption. You are solely responsible for any fees which the copyright holder may charge for reuse.
The reproduction of short extracts of text, excluding poetry and song lyrics, for the purposes of criticism may be possible without formal permission on the basis that the quotation is reproduced accurately and full attribution is given.
