Abstract

The sixth generation of mobile communications (6G) is expected to provide global connectivity through the integration of terrestrial and satellite networks. This concept, known as Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN), has the potential to overcome the limitations of traditional cellular networks and provide coverage in remote and hard-to-reach areas. This article aims to analyze the architecture and operating principles of integrated networks, as well as to assess their role in future 6G systems. Key technological aspects such as interaction between different types of orbits (LEO, MEO, GEO), resource management and ensuring continuous connectivity are considered. The main problems associated with delays, interference and complexity in the integration between terrestrial and satellite segments are analyzed. Special attention is paid to regulatory requirements and the role of standardization organizations such as ETSI, ITU and 3GPP in ensuring compatibility and global harmonization. As a result of the study, it is established that the effective integration of NTN is an essential factor in achieving universal connectivity and the development of 6G networks. The main contribution of the article is expressed in the systematization of architectural models and the identification of critical factors for the successful implementation of integrated communication systems.
