Who are the Sarmatians, and What is Their Connection to the Medieval Bulgarians?

Abstract

The connection between Sarmatians and Bulgarians was noticed already in the 20^th century. This connection can be seen in common practices in the funeral rite, geographical continuity and is supplemented by new data from archaeogenetics. This article aims to shed some light on the problem using some of this accumulated data.
