Abstract

The present study aims at analyzing the level and structure of Bulgaria’s and the South- East Region’s employees by sector and gender. On this basis, to assess changes in the structure of employment and establish the extent to which regional changes follow national trends. The results of the study show that the relative share of employees in the South-East region follows the sectoral structure of employment in the country, with the service sector prevailing over the primary and secondary sectors. A conclusion is drawn that the gender structure of employees is characterized by relative stability, with greater variation in relative gender shares in individual districts.
