Peer review policy

Every research manuscript submitted for publication to LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series is checked for plagiarism, duplicate publication and text recycling after submission and before being sent for initial editor screening and peer review. LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series operates both the double-blind review process, which ensures the anonymity of the reviewers and authors, and an open peer review system in which reviewers opt for either anonymous or open review which is publically available together with the published work. Additionally, reviewers can allow LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series to disclose their names as reviewers or to remain anonymous but with a publicly available review. Our peer reviewers are asked to follow the Peer Review Policy of LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series and the COPE Ethical Guidelines for Peer Reviewers when handling papers for LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series.

Submission of the manuscript represents that

  • the manuscript has not been published previously, is not considered for publication elsewhere and will not be submitted elsewhere unless it is rejected or withdrawn
  • you are agreeing to any necessary originality checks your manuscript may have to undergo during the editorial review, peer review and production processes.

When a manuscript is first received, the editorial team makes an initial judgment about the suitability of the manuscript for LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series. Manuscripts that do not align with the editorial goals of LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series, are poorly written, or do not follow the manuscript submission requirements will be rejected at this point.

Each manuscript that passes this initial editorial review is sent in a suitable form (depending on the blind or open review option from the author) to at least two reviewers. After evaluating an article, peer reviewers submit a completed Manuscript Review Form with publishing recommendations to the editorial board. Reviews based on the Peer Review Policy of LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series must be completed within 14 days. The overall editorial review and peer review process takes maximum four weeks.

When the manuscript review process is complete, reviewers’ and editors’ comments are sent back to the author with the editorial decision. If the authors are asked to resubmit the manuscript with changes after minor or major revisions and response to comments, the revised manuscript and the author’s responses to the reviewers for further review. Accepted manuscripts are still subject to editorial review and revision.

The Editor in Chief, in partnership with LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series editors, makes the final publication decision. Editorial decisions are not affected by the origins of the manuscript, including the nationality, ethnicity, political beliefs, race, or religion of the authors. Articles commissioned for special themed/joint issues or submitted by the editors or members of the editorial board follow the same process of initial editor screening, originality check and peer review as general issues in accordance with the Conflict of Interests Policy  of the LEADERSHIP, SOCIETY, STRATEGIC VISIONS Series.
