Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, DOIs or URLs for the references have been provided.
You can use Crossref's free Simple Text Query service to find DOIs: https://doi.crossref.org/simpleTextQuery
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Authors are asked to follow our Instructions for Authors and the Conflict of Interest Policy. This journal uses double-blind review, which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process. As part of the blind peer review process, authors will need to submit a blinded manuscript without a title page (no author details), as well as a separate title page (containing author details). For your convenience, we have prepared a Title Page Template and a Blinded Manuscript Template to start drafting your article.

We also recommend that authors consult the EASE Guidelines for Authors and Translators of Scientific Articles to be Published in English, freely available in many languages. Adherence should increase the chances of acceptance of submitted manuscripts.

Authors, and all co-authors, agree that the article, if editorially accepted for publication, shall be licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0). This license lets others remix, tweak, and build upon your work non-commercially, and although their new works must also acknowledge you and be non-commercial, they don’t have to license their derivative works on the same terms. Read our Policy.

As a final step before submission, go over the Presubmission Checklist for Manuscripts to make sure you have not forgotten anything. Submissions that do not comply with the checklist may be returned to authors for correction prior to review or returned without review depending on the degree of non-compliance.
